CELEBRATING NZ ROAST DAY

To celebrate NZ roast day, we invited guests and cooked a trio of roast meats (all loosely based on recipes from Dish No. 43), roast vegetables and then to finish some roast fruits for dessert. Lots of food and fun was had by all.
Pears sprinkled with vanilla pods & seeds, roasted in maple syrup.

Leg of lamb with crust of almonds, pistachios & smoked paprika.

Filled with bacon, feta, sundried tomatoes & pesto.
CHICKEN AND LEEK PIE
Pastry lattice takes time but looks good.





Serve with sauted portabello mushrooms & kumara patties.
DELICIOUS DONUTS
Dough sitting to get dry crust on outside
Don't leave them too long sitting because they keep rising.  Getting the oil to the right temperature took a little practice.

Dunk in sugar and cinnamon straight away






Filled with pureed black doris plums and custard with a little whipped cream folded into it

Instead of cinnamon and sugar, coat generously in icing sugar.
